Well your opportunity to step up to the plate has arrived! The King of the Dot: Montreal Division will become the proving ground to all you local battle-hungry MC’s.

For those who are still new to the Grind Time phenomenon, it is the brainchild of seasoned American battlers Drect & Madd Illz. What began as small promotional battles at non-profit community centers & hip-hop shops, quickly exploded into the most recognized league in North America, branching out to packed venues in the West Coast and spreading straight into the East Coast & Midwest regions. From constant features on World Star Hip Hop to battle footages reaching over 100,000 views on YouTube, Grind Time has since blossomed into a major outlet for the new school of MC’s to showcase their raw talent to a wider audience.

Around the same time that Grind Time was slowly making its mark, Canada was already creating waves on the battle circuit with Halifax’s well known Elements League. Inspired by Elements & Jumpoff’s World Rap Championships, respected battler Organik wanted to craft a league that would solidify Canada’s position on the map as a battle-hungry nation and soon enough, King of the Dot was born. While the number of viewers grew per battle, KOTD made a splash by later unraveling the Vancouver Division which is currently producing its own quality line-up of MC’s. The list of battlers that have stepped up in The Dot is enormous, boasting names such as Kid Twist, Hollohan, Jack Shitt & Kaliente. With reputable judges, energetic crowds and a slew of ruthless & witty MC’s, KOTD has become a top tier battle league as after months of organizing colossal battles, they have now linked up with Grind Time in a cross-promotional effort to produce a dominant force in hip-hop.

Ran & hosted by one of Montreal’s elite & recognized MC’s, Loe Pesci & in collaboration with Escape Entertainment, KOTD: Montreal is the latest provincial expansion that guarantees to continue the tradition of delivering a highly competitive league that will surely have jaws dropping. The format will be the same as current KOTD divisions & is as follows:

• MC’s will be notified for their opponent in advance & will be given ample time to prepare.
• Coin toss: Winner chooses who goes first
• Three rounds, each MC will be given a minute per round to spit their verse
• Voting by a judging panel consisting of respect personalities
• If tied after voting, a fourth & deciding overtime round will commence
• Battles will be recorded & showcased on YouTube on scheduled dates
